Gregg Allman Dead at 69

Southern rock legend, musician, songwriter, actor, Greg Allman passed away at 69, on May 27, 2017. Allman died peacefully in his home in Savannah, Georgia after a prolonged battle with liver cancer.

 A private ceremony was held at Snow's Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Macon, Ga. In attendance were former president Jimmy Carter (who was helped by Gregg Allman during his 1976 presidential campaign,) ex-wife Cher, Peter Frampton, and many of Allman's bandmates including Jaimoe, Dickey Betts and Derek Trucks.

Following the private ceremony the procession made its way to Rose Hill Cemetery. Thousands of fans lined the road leading to the cemetery and after the procession made its way into the cemetery, fans were welcomed inside the gates to attend. Family, former bandmates and close friends all gathered to pay their respects to the legendary musician.

Allman's final resting place is just a few feet away from his brother Duane and former bandmate Berry Oakley in the same small cemetery.

Gregg Allman's final resting place the day after the ceremony. There will be a headstone added at a later date and probably a fence too. Brother Duane Allman and former Allman Brothers Band member, Berry Oakley are buried just a few feet away behind the fence.
