Nine years is far too long for Metallica to be away from Houston. 2008 was the last time the band played here and that was on the World Magnetic Tour at Toyota Center...
Well, Metallica returned and it wasn't at an 18,000 seat venue, it was at NRG Stadium with a capacity of 70,000. I don't know if they sold 70,000 tickets but it was a helluva big show with Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Mix Master Mike providing ample opening support.
With a stage as wide as a football field and a snake pit of super fans, Metallica delivered an aural attack of new tunes and classic shredders to head banging, fist pumping and horn throwing fans, young and old alike. The band ripped through 18 songs including a few new ones and old classics like For Whom The Bell Tolls, One, Creeping Death, Hit The Lights, Fade To Black, Seek and Destroy and more.
